After realizing I wouldn't get crap for my V6 while I was thinking of selling it and getting an LS1, I realized I still really like everything about my car except for the engine. So as I price LS1's it looks like it will be a pretty penny for a swap.

I know there have been a few carbed motor 4th gen's, should I look for a carbed small block?

:badpost:

Not really. The expense of building up a Gen I SBC to exceed the power of an LS1 isn't worth it. I'd go with the LS1 car instead of doing the swap (and I loooove swaps)

Okay, now I'm looking into a LM7 or an LQ4 swap. These engines would be cheap as well to buy, will work with an LS1 T-56, and it'd be like getting an iron block LS1. Not the same displacement of course, but these engines should be able to handle some boost. :D

I'm trying to make a list of things I would need, so far:

LS1 oil pan
LS1 intake manifold

Both of these are so the engine will fit.

LS1 radiator, hose, thermostat, etc.
V8 exhaust manifolds
V8 springs/shocks
Manual tranny console
LS1 Motor mounts

Would I need the LS1 K-member too or no? The only thing I'm worried about is how the car will drive due to the extra weight in the front. (I've been told the engine is 80# heavier than an LS1)

Guess I'm gonna have to add a fiberglass hood and relocate the battery to make up for some of that

Thoughts? Opinions?

You're starting to see why the absolute cheapest option is to get a complete wrecked f-body that you can nab everything from. :)

(Wrecked fbods) Those silverado engines go for a few hundred dollars, and it'd be cool to be a little unique.
