View Full Version : Can an LS6 head direct bolt onto a LS2 block?

I recently had a pair of LS6 heads stage 1 ported by a reputable owner of a head porting service locally. Upon conversating about my decision to mod my SS vs. getting buying a new 05 LS2 GTO and someday modding it, he mention that the current LS6 head from the LS1 block will directly bolt onto the LS2 block. Since the guy does port work as a business and also drives a cammed 01 SS I took it that he might know a little more about it than me. So I did a few searches on some of the sites that I thought could provide and prove his claim but I haven't found any info to substantiate this. Which brought me to the question whether to save the cost of bolting them onto my SS or wait and have them further port the heads to maybe a stage II and save them for whenever I get an LS2 GTO. I'd like to decide if this swap is viable but need more info if his claims are true.

Any thoughts or info?

I don't see why not seeing as how the heads on the LS2 are the exact same heads that are on the LS6 ;)

Well after some more research I did find out that his information was correct. The LS6 head is standard fare on LS2. Why should I have ever doubted a head porter eh?

Tough love to the newbie to LS2 school eh? :badpost:

Thanks for the help 2k2blkss. I'd thought I'd get more responses than that but I must be lazy or something!
