A friend of mine today, while looking under the hood of my car, noticed that my accessory belt looked a little off center on the tensioner pulley. I told him that's how it'd been since I replaced the belt, and he told me that he thought the tensioner spring was going out.

Is this normal for a car with 115k miles on it, and how the hell do you replace that thing? Or is it something else? I'd post this over on firebirdv6... but am unable to  :2guns: :(

I think it's BS... I have 130k on my car and the tensioner keeps the belt on my engine just fine... you will find that the belt sometimes sits forward or aft of the center of the pully, it should center as soon as the engine turns over. I would not be concerned unless you get a burning smell or the the belt jumps the pully. A word of advice though, if you ever want to take the actual pully off of the tensioner arm, it is reverse threaded... I learned that the hard way.
