Does anyone have pacesetter headers in their 3800?
I have a 2000 and I checked the site and another site that has them for $200. Although it said they were for 3800's '95-'99. Does anyone know if those will work or can anyone possibly recommend a site that has some headers that wont break the bank and will work for my year.
Thanks for any help

This doesn't really answer your question, but don't but the $200 pacesetters. Spend the extra $100 or so and get them coated.

well its another $150 and do I really need them coated? I really dont give a damn about appearence, just performance.

From what I have heard, getting the headers coated does increase the performance. It is due to the fact that it smoothes the pipes. I think that is why. It also reduces the temp I think.

The coating is worth it... i really wish i would have spent the extra money and done it to mine.

Well I think i'm going to go the cheap route and say screw the coating, I dont care about appearence and i'm not that worried about heat (I wont be racing the thing, just want the performance every once in a while)
My next question is about the EGR, I called up the place that is selling them and they said that the tubing wont fit. I really dont care about emmisions and am going to remove my cat anyway. Is there a way to fabricate, bend or whatever to get the EGR to fit, or if I just block off the tubing will it give me problems? (besides the SES light coming on, and from what I understand I can get that programmed to turn off)
Thanks for any help

If you don't get them coated they will rust unless you don't plan to ever drive in the rain or any other inclimate weather... it's not just to look pretty. At the very least give them a good coat with the stuff out of a can...
AFAIK the headers designed for our cars (3800 in general) are supposed to connect to the EGR no problem. EGR helps fuel economy... it doesn't hurt any performance that I know of.

what is AFAIK? are those the pacesetters?
Well i would coat the headers, but not order them coated... So if I say screw the EGR I will lose some mpg? Also, do you know about how much it would cost to get my computer programmed to ignore the EGR if it werent hooked up?

AFAIK = As Far As I Know
I don't know that the computer would actually care that you took out the EGR. I don't remember if it has a computer connection or not. If it does then you could probably trick it with a resistor or something. If there is no hookup and the engine runs clean then I would imagine no ill result would come of removing it.

yeah, but I think i would throw a code and have to stare at the ses light all the time, which I dont want to do, nor spend the money to have the code cleared

yes if u block off the EGR u will throw a code. did it to a buddys car and a day later he was throwin a code. its really not worth
blocking it off u only gain like 3-5hp. if that. so i would say jst put it on and not deal with it,

if the tubing wont fit, block it off, stare at the code. i stared at it for 7 months on mine... just ran to autozone every month or so when i was near one and had it scanned! and extra hp is extra hp. and it would be a freebie too!

you don't want cooler exhaust, COLD INTAKE + HOT EXHAUST = best power. and I have a six but I am doing a swap.
