OK, in this image, you are looking up (I was laying flat on my back under the car) between the clutch/flywheel bellhousing and the beginning of the driveline tunnel, on the passenger side of the car.

The brass bracket you see was the cause of the squeak- it's only purpose is to hold that wiring harness in place. If you look on the left side of the bracket, you can see an eyelet. That eyelet is supposed to be secured to the bellhousing itself. When my mechanic put my car back together after installing the clutch, he forgot to secure that bracket, leaving it loose, which caused it to rub against the floorpan every time the car bounced or shook.

Here's a closer view of the unsecured part of the bracket. That bolt it is resting on is supposed to go through the eyelet to secure the bracket in place:

Soooo if you ever have any clutch work done on your C5 and the car sqeaks afterwards, check that bracket. If one experienced mechanic could make that mistake, I reckon anyone could.

Cheers!

Here's the bracket after I fixed it. Believe me- it was no small feat getting a wrench on that damn bolt! Thank God for u-joints!

 Dude you've got no idea. I parked my car for 3 weeks because of that squeak, and then left it at the shop for another 2 while they tried to figure it out. I hated that sound- it was like finger nails on the chalkboard for me.

I am soooo glad it's finally fixed.
