A freind of mine has a 2004 chebby. It is drive by wire. He is wanting to build a motor for it. Will the drive by wire give him trouble? Can it be converted to throttle body? I yall have any ideas, please let me know.

what kind of motor?
will he be using the same block same engine?
if so than the drive by wire will work.
if you want to go to a throttle body with a cable you will need the whole setup and even then its the same thing except the drive by wire throttle body is controlled via computer and not by a cable.
i would just stick with the drive by wire throttle body. just my.02

I guess the engine size does help. Its a 5.3. Would the driver by wire work with a built motor and a supercharger?

certainly . there is absolutely nothing wrong with an drive by wire throttle body.
its just computer controlled
get edit and you wont have any issues

It will work fine but the dbw gives the pcm more control of torque management than before. TQM has always pulled timing and reduced fuel in abusive situations but now with the dbw the pcm can reduce the throttle blade angle as well. With that being said, tuning will be a must.
