The Kooks went in today and suprisingly without a hitch! All in all it took a little over 5 hours to install them. A big thanks goes out to Brent (Y2K Roadster) and my buddy Matt from work who helped me put them in. I do not really feel that big of a difference in power with the longtubes but I am hoping the computer just needs to adapt to them. Although coming into the side street near my apartment complex I got on it and it accelerated pretty damn hard. I hit 80MPH pretty quick. I will get right down to the pros and cons.

Pros:
1.Loud as hell.
2.They look great.
3.I should have gained 20-30RWHP.
4.The install was easy for LT's.
5.Left side of y-pipe clears better than the stock one!
6.Clamps that came with the y-pipe are of great quality.

Cons:
1.Loud as hell.
2.Since I did not opt for cats the car lost a tremendous amout of backpressure. This really does affect the low end quite a bit, I noticed a loss in throttle response definetly.
3.Center console shakes like crazy from the resonance.
4.Right side of the header/y-pipe hangs a bit (but for LT's I have to say they clear pretty good).
5.I think the engine bay gets hotter now (S/S not ceramic coated)
6.EGR and AIR fittings did not line up the same on the Kooks.

If I had to do it all over again I would of went with the ceramic coating and cats. I believe having no cats is only a benefit to cars with forced induction. Also I would have taken the time to get the headers I really wanted, I was sent ones with EGR and AIR provisions when I did not want them. In the end I am still happy with them and I cannot wait to see what the car pulls on the dyno.

Hey dude, that's good to hear...I'm still waiting on my shipment, and hopefully they made them the way I wanted them made, but we shall see. Should be interesting...we'll hook up after I get them installed (I'll probably have Travis help me, so I'll be down there anyways), and you'll be able to see the difference between the catted y and yours.

Even if you let Travis do the work let me and Brent know when you are going to do it. We love just shooting the $H*@ and being around for the install.

You got it man...I think it would be a breeze for him to install. I definitely need some help though since I've never seen or done this. I'm all up for shooting the poo...

Do you think cats in the Y pipe would cut down the loudness considerably? I want to get LT's, but I don't want my car to be loud as hell.

Yes...I just installed a Hooker catback which mated right up to the Kooks LTs with catted Y. The thing is incredibly quiet inside the car at cruise...we're talking SLP dual/dual quiet, if not more. It really is VERY quiet. When you open it up, it gets kinda loud inside, and gets real friggin loud outside the car. I had a hard time believeing it could go between two such extremes, but it did...no resonance or drone inside, plus a great sound outside. When you get on it, be prepared for John Law to come looking...sounds about like the world is coming to an end.

Props to the Kooks, they are truly awesome, and Steve's Catted Y is so much the better. I went Off road Y myself, but you all know me..., Loud and in your face. I think Mike's Formy would sound fine once I convince him to install the plate in teh Borla. Only Drawback to the Kooks is the price tag, but no doubt, top notch product. On a side note, that damn Hooker Catback on Steve's SS sounds great, and virtually FELL into place. :D

Believe me Travis I hate the raspy boy racer sound. It is just a matter of me getting off my ass to put the plate in.

Too bad the SLP dual/dual didn't FALL out of place...that fugger was a nightmare to get out. Thank God for the inventor of the sawzall...

These are awsome headers, I only opted for the 304 stainless steel and no ceramic....its been over a year and the look just as they did when they were new.
