ummm, am I missing something simple here? do you just beat the damn thing out? or do you have to have a shop press it out and install the new one?

I had the dealer do mine. Aluminum doesn't like "beating". The press is the better choice.

Stock drive shaft ends have some sort of plastic retainer injected into them to hold the U-joint in. Just heat up the enclosed ends with a torch melt the plastic and the U-joint should press out.
BTW not too much heat mmmk.

You find that joint @ Napa? :)
Yes, you have to press it out.
When reinstalling, do not over-press the new cups in, or the joint will "bind" and vibrate.

yes I did. thank you very much for the help. thanks to EVERYONE for your help and input.
thats what makes this site so kick ass.
the job is all done except for the drive shaft. hopefully I can find someone tomorrow that can press out the old joint, and press in the new one.
everything else is done and the job went smoothly.
tomorrow, I will hopefully finish up the rear, install my SFCs, and drive shaft safety loop.
next week, its TNT time.
