My dipstick is not sticking ALL the way into the pan, it is probably about .25" out. The small rubber seals doesn't want to budge down...anyone got any solutions?
Also, under WOT at highway speeds, after my car shifts, there is a sweet smell, like something is burning. Could it be the tranny oil, or does anyone think I put too much coolant in? I basicalyl filled the coolant up to the top....
:help:
Did you have the tube out for some reason? If you're talking about the tube and not the stick, they can be a bit of a bear to get back in. Not sure on the Gen III what holds the upper tab on the tube in place, but on Gen I & II, it's a bellhousing bolt. What I do is unbolt that bolt, unbolt the trans mount, jack the trans up against the floor, pull tube up a bit, shove the seal into the trans case, and then wiggle the tube down until it goes. Some persistence comes in handy.
if you're talking about the dipstick into the tube...

Ok, so coolant one is figured out, that is good. Would it overflow under high RPM load tho? *scratches head*
And I am asking about the tube, not dipstick, sorry.
Black-When I come down on Friday, I could show you also....
Any other hints? Just jack up the pan while pulling down on the tube?
I'd jack up on the mount, not then pan, so maybe pull the crossmember, or on a stock mount, jack upon the stud of the mount. I've never crushed a pan before, but...
And yes like you said, release the upper tab of the tube (whatever it's bolted to,) and raise the trans a bit, and wiggle it down.
