I tried this on a couple of ranger forums, but it must have been too damn hard for someone to reply, so figured I'd try here.
I have a 2000 Ranger that gets real crap mileage, and I'm wondering if I could help matters tire-wise. I have 32" Mud tires, they say max psi 55 w/ 2500 lbs. I've been running with about 30, but wondering if I should have more in them. Anyone know?

higher PSI should net you better mileage

....as long as the tires don't explode. That's what I'm wondering, what's the max psi I can run safely? I guess it would be easy if I knew how much this truck weighed. This is solid pavement driving with the rare off-roading when I see the chance.

I'd run them 30-35 psi. I run the 305's on my truck at 33psi

Keep in mind that the 32X11.50X15 is an LT rated tire, meaning (more than likely) 6 ply, whereas the OE tires were P Metric, 4 ply. With the increased load range, a lower PSI will be acceptable on a small truck like the Ranger. 30 PSI would be a nice starting point, and you can adjust to your ride preference from there. Hope this helps.-Travis
Your gas mileage drop is more than likely due to the gear ratio change with the height of the tires.

Thanks for the replies.

I may be willing to change gears if the gas mileage increase will be noticeable. What would I want to change them to?
