For the last few months any time it rains my drivers side DRL/Turn Signal will go out. I know its from water getting on it, but what can i do to prevent this problem.

Im thinking sealing it is the solution, but have no idea of how to go about this.

Thanks alot. :)

I have the same problem. Its gotten so bad that I now have to replace the wiring harness. Replacement of the bulb just don't cut it anymore. Kinda irritating.

is the whole harness messed up, or just the socket?

I posted step by step instructions on the other site, of how to replace the socket, without splicing :)

There is a slit manufactured in the housing face.
You have to seal it up if you wish to keep the water out.
Examine the front of your housing carefully-you will see the vertical slit in the center of the face. The slit extends to within approx. 1/4" of both the top and bottom of the lense face.

Here is another thread with one solution:

Weezz, is it there on purpose. I just ordered two new housing and they did not have the slit in them. Wondering if GM fixed the problem or are later they going to spilt.

Perhaps they finally fixed it. The slit is/was very hard to see clearly without a magnifying glass. I am 100% sure mine were made this way as the opening is a perfectly smooth long thin rectangle formed exactly the same in both left and right lenses.

I have not examined other Firebirds this closely, of the few others I have seen I simply felt for the slit and so far it has been on each one.
Perhaps there was a defective batch, I suppose anything is possible considering GM's past quality control record.

If you haven't installed the housings yet, take a large bowl,
fill it with water,
while looking internally at the clear housing face thru the bulb insertion opening/access hole, gently submerge the blinker housing face (with the clear lense face pointing down) approx. 1/4" below the water suface. If the opening is there it will begin to quickly fill the housing (you will see it penetrating the housing assembly and the exact location of the problem area).

Hope this helps.
