i was doing 45, southbound on a road, headed to the I520 Westbound onramp.. didnt make it. got to a light, it was green so i kept on going but started to slow down a bit as traffic was slowing ahead. then this northbound boneheaded old man in a lincoln continetal tank decides HE can make a left turn and get across before i make it through.. hell i didnt even see him! it was getting dark, alot of people had lights on.. not him. dark brown car, low light.. bad mix. so i slammed into him at 40-45 pushed his rear around(cars hooked together so i didnt bounce off him), collided with some girl's little eastbound white nissan or such, dented her a bit and stopped.
Cops faulted him for BOTH collisions. even though he didnt touch the white car, he was faulted for it because if he hadn't cut me off the collision with her would not have occured.
Initially from the way it looked to me i thought he ran the redlight. Nope, he simply tried to get across my path in his slow deathbucket. Firebird, totalled. his car.. minor damage, driveable i hit right at the rear tire. The irony of it is my insurance company paid me for my car.. even though it was filed on his ins co's policy. same company! very satisfying to get some of my money back from them!
take note people a 40MPH headon impact into a tank didnt even bother the passenger compartment for anything but a minor dash tweaking. tough cars we do have for the average wreck. pushed the radiator back upon the engine. tilted the engine a bit. broken the front end plastics, but i walked away from it unscratched and quite annoyed with old men!
The V6 bird was replaced with a Z28. so not all bad. i got 5100 for the bird, the Z cost 8000.

I feel ya... I hit the guy who turned in front of me at just over 30. Doesn't look nearly as bad as yours, but the final repair bill was $10,187.xx. The car handled the impact beautifully... didn't spill a drop of anything. :)

I dont have any pics of my Z before I got it from the accident it was in, but I can tell you it was worse then what anyones posted here so far. Not only have I been told it was hit hard from the front, but the left side and rear as well. unough to twist the frame 5+ inches.
Damn Flag $10k for that!!! looks like my $6k rebuild on my car that I told the lawyer was a little off!!! lol

Here's my wrecked submission! My wife did this and walked away from it!!! It was a 2000 Z28 M6, was 10 months old when she wrecked it and had just turned 12,000 miles that day. :(

Looks like she got hit and hit hard by a 18 wheeler! Other then the roof being smached, my car looked a little like this, at least thats what I've been told, but damn you get the top dog spot for worst! :)

Yeah, I was surprised at the price tag too...lol I hit the guy square on the wheel, so it was like the strongest point of the car that I could have possibly hit. The impact flattened the crossbrace for the frame rails and curled the right frame rail down almost 90 degrees. now, I have about a two foot section of new frame rail on that side, both upper and lower.
i talked to a lawyer friend of mine about it and he said that no one would really touch my case because the hospital bills were less than $3k and I wasn't hurt. I settled with the other clowns ins. co. for just under $6k, which paid the car off. :)
Dagwood -- How on EARTH did your wife survive THAT?! She is one blessed woman, to say the least! I'm glad she's fine!

She fell asleep.......or passed out if you will, and her foot went to the floor. She slid sideways down a blacktop road for probably 200 feet before going off the road and hitting a field driveway with the drivers side of the car and rolling out into a bean field. The hood and hatch are just sitting on the car in the pics, they were ripped clean off the car along with the drivers side fender and door skin. She got out and walked about 3/4 of a mile for help. It happened at like 1:30 am
She was drinking and driving.
