Would there be any differences as far as the installation goes if i were to swap out my LS1 in my 99 TA and put an LS2 in it? or would it be just like putting in a another LS1?
Considering that the GTO is going to the LS2, as is the SSR, the swap shouldn't be too complicated.
that being said, it def. isnt worth the hassle, even if the engine were free. it would be much more cost efficient to do other mods

I agree. No sense in doing all that for ~40whp.
Now a 3800 V6 for LS2 swap? Now we're talkin.

well.... the reason i asked... is because i'm looking at buying a whole new engine for mine anyways and building it up in the ole garage... mines got 90k miles on it right now and i just don't see it living too much longer... but instead of buying another ls1... i could get the ls6 or ls2 and was just wondering how installation would go..

i agree with the rest of these guys, it would be a waste of money. If i were you i would wait till the LS7 comes out seeing how your motor still has alot left in it. Later on your just gonna end up saying to yourself "damn i should have waited for the LS7 instead  ". My guess is you are still gonna want to end up porting your LS2 heads if you do get your motor for the extra hp, if you were to wait a little longer im sure the LS7 heads would be worth alot more in the long run anyways (hp wise). :D

Remember how the LS2 responded to headers shown in that dyno test? It was like 25 rwhp and 35 rwtq i think. I'd go for it.

bad argument, most of these cars pick up that much with headers. wait for the ls7 if anything

Or rebuild your LS1 with forged parts, maybe a stroker, etc :) Piss off alot of people driving $60k C6's (after all the markup for the new vettes).

good idea, but i doubt that many would be pissed bc they could do the same thing if they wanted. I would MUCH rather have a new c6 than a built used ls1 that is faster.

Well, a new C6 would be better than just a rebuilt LS1 engine. But this thread is just talking about an engine swap.
