Is the Hypertech Power Programmer worth the money? Seems like a decent chunk of change to drop for something you can only use on one car!

It is if you plan to keep the motor stock and not install any bolt-ons. The Diablo Predator would be the better choice in a handheld programmer.

I wouldn't waste money on HPP3.

BTW, most of the programmers are married to one VIN. The manufacturers aren't stupid, they want to sell as many as they can, so having a programmer married to one VIN makes business sense.

got a laptop already? then look at LS1Edit or HPTuner. both are laptop based tuners far more functional than a Diablo or HPP. although with a steeper learning curve.

oh and ALL tuners can make your PCM into a fancy new paperweight.

dont forget that with edit you'll need to buy an additional scan tool like atap/efi.

hpp3 - probably no.... unless you only wanted to change fan settings or adjust for new tire/gear size. as stated above - otherwise some other tuners are your best bet. what all do you plan on doing to your car?

ps - those "canned" tunes (the "plug it in and get 20 hp") are usually junk. don't waste your $$$.
