So last weekend my dad and I went to the Barrie Swapmeet here in ontario, (this thing is huge) to look for a posi for the 'Bird. while we were there, we came across a shaker hood that was in good condition, but there was no shaker and we figured, without an actual shaker there was no use. So we kept walking, and after a while we came along a site where these two old women were selling some random things. We were just about to walk by when in the back of their site, there were two shakers, one had the price-"$10.00 for both". Sold. We then went back, and bought the hood for $130.00 Cdn. So, i ended up getting a shaker hood for 140 along with a 10 bolt posi for 150. :D

I can't wait to paint it, I'm gunna paint the hood the same Cranberry Mettalic as the body, and paint the shaker a dark flat black.

Cool congrats man.

Until I saw the end of your post I was gonna offer you my 3:42 posi rear end. Im not gonna use it after all. I decided Im gonna just use the 3:08 posi disc rear end and sell the 3:42 posi drum rear end.

EDIT: Oh and have fun taking that bird off the hood. Its a bitch to do. :p :D

Cool man. Just make sure the shaker seals up tight with the hood. The last thing you want is water getting into the carb through there.

:stupid: and make sure you have the drain hose connected to the shaker and long enough that it drains the water out on the ground and not on the motor.

All you need is a piece of rubber hose to connect to the nipple on the bottom of the shaker and run it in a safe spot all the way through the engine bay

thanks for the comments.

and, the shaker was originally closed, but someone already did quite a neat job of opening it up. So, it's completely fintional(except for the fancy vacuum operated flap:rolleyes: ). If you look at the right angle, you can see the air filter through the shaker. Maybe not the best for wet-weather driving, but I sholdn't be driving it in the rain anyways. Here's a couple more pics where u can see in the shaker.

Also, anyone here worthy of advice about converters? This winter, I'm buildin' a small block to put in this thing, with a 700R backing it up. Now, with teh cam and intake that's on/in this motor, the thing needs to rev to make power and I was wonderin whats the highest stall i should go with if I want to still keep it steetable. Any suggestions?

EDIT- and the gear is 373,

Nate lives about a block away from my girlfriend's house, so I see his car around town all the time.

Ya seemed okay spending 300 bucks at the swap meet, so why not spend a little more for some updated rims.

other than gas, thats the most I've spent on my car in quite a long time. and 300 would get me one rim, w/out rubber.

and, this have not being said, I'm on a 16 year olds budget. so splerging on some wheels means I would have no money this winter for my little SB build up.

When I bought my 70 T/A, it had 5 different shakers in the trunk:eek:

Thing is, only one of them would fit my hood (the rest were for the later years)

The original was already gutted and the flap was missing, so I bought a flap kit with dual solenoids (still have yet to install it)....

The one in the trunk that fit was sealed up with JB Weld, so I used that during the Winter:\

Sold the rest to Bill's Birds and Other Animals on the Island:dunno:
