Anyone have any experience driving daily on either ET Streets or Nitto drag radials? Looking to buy a pair soon and just wondering if its really wise as a daily driven tire?

Daily driving on E.T streets would be stupid rain or shine.

Driving on ET Streets is impossible. The rear end feels floaty...and when met with anything besides dry pavement, you're going to go SLIDING. :)

expect to die if you drive either in the rain. however, i used to have nittos on my old firehawk (which was a nice weather-only car) and i had no problems on dry land, but i got caught in the rain a couple times and lets just say it was scary
It is not a good idea at all, DR's in the rain is taking a big risk, and ET streets, not even a chance with wet surface.

I had Nitto DRs on my Camaro, they had accecptable wet traction, but they wear quickly. You ahve to becareful though once they wear down get rid of them. The character that bought my car wrapped it around a tree two weeks after he bought it with bald DRs and wet weather.

As stated, both tires are for fair weather and racing.
I would look into Nitto NT-555 series tires for daily driver.
Moved to tire/wheel forum
Nitto DR's aren't bad for daily driving. They never gave me any trouble at all, but I didn't do much dribing in the rain or cold. ET streets are not a tire I would want to drive on the street.

From the link:
Recommended for use on dry pavement only.
Be sure to read the fine print!

I pitty the fools who can't drive in the rain with nittos. They aren't that bad at all as long as your not stupid. I do 75mph dwn the highway in the rain with my skinnies and bald nittos(lil over 10k miles on them) and I don't have any problems. I've even driven them in light snow(1-2") before. I'll be trying et's here soon for daily driving(when its not wet out)

I have driven on the street with both the Nitto DR's and ET Streets. The Nitto's were great, the ET Streets were fine as long as you don't get stupid.

You're going to crash. I'm serious. You've just been lucky so far. I wouldn't push my luck if I were you...
Driving on ET Streets is dumb. They wear quickly, and even at ~25 PSI the rear end floats everywhere. DO NOT DO IT.:2guns:

Driving in the rain is fine as long as I'm not cornering hard or accelerating. Around hard corners I do slow down quite a bit. The snow adventures was last winter and was only a few times and I had to keep it slow, but it wasn't that bad. This winter I bought some studded snow tires and got around just fine even in 8 to 11" of snow. When I say my car is a DD, I mean it, it goes whether its shine/rain/snow/(not hail though, that warrants calling in sick).
I have many friends that run et streets during the summer as daily drivers and have never had a problem. They've been doing this for years. I have two pairs of rear wheels, so if I don't like the et streets for daily driving I'll just run the nittos during the week and run the et's on the weekend.

Did that happen with the nittos in that picture? Cuz they aren't bald at all.

Typical nitto, bald in the middle and tread on the outside. Mine have less tread on them than yours does. What were you doing when it happened and is your car an a4 or m6?

it's an m6.. was stock except for a cutout at the time... i was going about 40mph on the highway in the rain, picking my car up from having a new clutch put in... there was apparently a puddle on the highway, i hit it.. lost control, spun around, hit the center barrier of the highway and ended up facing traffic... busted both rims on that side, damage on the body of course (front and back, but not door), front wheel bearings, and an alignment...
nittos are fine for the rain if your smart , but when they get bald no rain , or youll end up like topher

i'll have to agree that when i was driving on 50%-100% tread on dry pavement, it was GREAT.. other than that, i was whiteknuckling the steering wheel just hoping to get home alive...

Nitto Dr's would be the better choice.
I have both..You cannot use ET streets everyday, but nittos are OK. As far as being safe in the rain, I have raced friends on the highway in heavy rain and yes they will spin but you need to replace them when they get worn out. In the colder months the nittos dont hook any better than a street tire, the compound gets too hard.

ET Drags be a real man, I know some one who did that. As long as it didnt rain or hit pudles it was ok. How ever if he caught rain, 5mph with the safteys.

improvise, get the E.T Street Radial, they will hold up better than the regular E.T streets as well as being "slightly" better in wet situations. They'll also hook like a bitch.
