i currently have 2.73 gears and might be getting a good deal on 3.42's and was wondering how much it would help my 1\4 mile times.

I replaced mine and gained 3 tenths. The around town driving is more fun too:D

Should help you out a bit, to say the least. :)

Id say maybe a tenth or so if you change just the gears. Make sure you adjust your speedo.

I went to 3.42s also. Much more pull in all gears, and like Blacker said, it is much more fun driving around town!

I went from 2.73's to 3.73's. Even if it isn't any faster it's alot more fun to drive. However, if i were to do it again I would go with 3.42's. The 3.73's tend to feel like overkill sometimes.

I'm planning on going to 3.42s when I get a chance. How much mileage would I lose from my 2.73s? Some say alot, others say next to nothing.
BTW, I have an A4.

You do know that you'll need an adapter, right? 273s are 2 series carrier and the 342s are 3 series carrier. 3 tenths off your ET would be nice.
I was going to go with 373s but was talked into going with 342s instead. 373s with a 2 to 3 series carrier adapter would be prone to breaking.
