Dear fellow GTO owners....

I'm pretty happy with my car, but I notice that some of my fellow goat owners get real defensive when every anyone says anything remotely negative about these cars.

Why? The GTO is real nice, but it is not perfect. Try telling some GTO owners, especially the ones with the car on order who haven't taken delivery of the car, that and they get majorly butt hurt.

Do any of you do this?

I just get annoyed at all these "it's crap" type bitching from the people who have never even see one.

I'm not trying to say it's a perfect car. It's not. But it's a lot better in many ways than a lot of cars I've ever looked at.

Stylling aside, this car has significant quality points that you can't find in many domestically produced cars, even for tens of thousands more.

I don't really get it with all the hate towards a RWD V8 car like the GTO has been getting.

I can remember back when I thought 64 goat was just another car. I mean my grand father drove a 64 GTO.

THis brings me to the other side of the argument. "they should not have named it the GTO" this is tottal BS... The original GTO was nothing more than a plain jane with a big motor. no frills, no styling really.

This new GTO is really just following in it's fathers foot steps,,, but in a new age!!! I would take one in a minute if I had the cash to buy it, but right now two kids is my biggest concern.

The original GTO was an option package on the Tempest that consisted of a 389ci motor, a few badges and a non functional hood scoop. That's it.

If you think the GTO was anything but a hot engine in an average midsize car, you're just fooling yourself.

If you think it was anything other than that, by all means please show me how you're right.

But I don't agree that I start flame wars. I simply state my opinion and why I feel that way.

Look at the post I put in the other forum. I simply stated the ytd sales figures and it turned it to a pissing contest with half of them calling me out. #1 I feel it is useful information so the enthusiest can see how it is performing in the market place. And have questioned where the hell the cars are at. GM is just srewing the customers once again.

The ones who start the flame wars are the idiots who say the car is a "pos" "looks like a cavalier" "looks like a grand prix" "has crappy build quality". It is obvious these comments are made to insight a fight. I have never once done this.

I challenge anyone to find a post I have made on this or any other site to the contrary.

Fact is there have been several people posting that they had recieved thier cars and I have congradulated them.

In additon, I have said several positive things about the car, but memories must be short.

I am starting to think the guys buying the gto are the same type who bought Firehawks. You may recall the flamewars over on LS1.com on this subject many times.

As I've said, this forum isn't a "bash the GTO" forum... and you are not on LS1.COM. How we do things here is different, so do not think that the modus operandi from there is going to fly over here.

I didn't say you started them. I said there are far too many of them that have your name plastered all over them, and you fan the flames quite a bit. You don't walk away from or not participate in a flame thread about the GTO.

However, it is quite clear from this thread that you are flaming people beginning with your first post in the thread... and that you *did* instigate it, and made no effort whatsoever to do anything but escalate the flaming.

Please see to it that this stops immediately. Thanks.

BTW...GM stated before the GTO went into production that it would be limited production of only a few thousand cars per year. As far as I can see their production figures are right in line with what they said they were going to produce.

:umm: Everyone says 18k per year, they have sold just over 1,100. Production started late last year, that means a shitload of cars are missing. If there production figures are right in line, then there are a shitload of cars missing. That was my point regarding the sales. If you look around the gto boards, there are plenty of people waiting for thier cars and a number who have just gotten tired of the wait and given up.

My first post in this thread was made becuase I am sick of people who don't understand what the hell they are talking about. The original GTO was not just a big engine stuck in a midsized car.:mad: That is like saying Elvis Presley was a guy who sang and played a guitar..:rolleyes: And if you can understand this, then you understand why I say this car is no gto. If not..what is the point:dunno:
